Our Vision

For Indonesian people to live prosperously and independently, and have commitment to love God.

Our Mission

To develop transformational microeconomic programs based on biblical principles.

Bridge of Hope exists to assist Indonesian families in achieving financial independence through microfinance and community savings. Operating in East Indonesia since the early 2000s, we partner with local communities to provide not just financial resources, but training, support, and hope for a better future.

Led by CEO Gladies Malanlantang and a committed local board, our Indonesian staff work directly with communities in Manado, Bitung, Tobelo, Kao, and our newest branch in Ibu.

Three Core Values

1. Community-Led Development We partner with local communities, empowering Indonesians to lead their own transformation.

2. Financial Dignity Small loans and savings groups build capability, not dependency, creating sustainable livelihoods.

3. Faithful Stewardship As a faith-based organization, we serve with integrity, accountability, and prayer.

Meet the Founder

David Middlton is one of the original founders of Bridge of Hope,. In the early 2000’s, responding to a need to help empower displaced citizens from the nearby Maluku Islands and central Sulawesi, he with the help of the newly established Board of local committed business people, as well as Geoff Osborne and others from Australia, established the model of microfinance loans in the area, as a means to enable individuals to support themselves and their families and work their way out of poverty.

David lives mostly in the South Island of New Zealand with his wife Suzanne, (although some time in Pennsylvania US) when not travelling to assist developing nations with financial development and strategies. He has much expertise in this area and provides great support and training for the staff of Bridge of Hope.

One of the things David says which makes the work of Bridge of Hope unique is the long and strong ongoing partnership between the Sydney Advocacy team, the Board and staff.
